MINUTES OF THE TUNKHANNOCK TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING HELD OCTOBER 11, 2005

The Tunkhannock Township Board of Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on October 11, 2005. Those in attendance were Supervisors Francis Altemose, II, Jim Sterrett and William Bourke, Secretary/Treasurer Donna Verdes, Alternate Solicitor Armand Olivetti, Zoning Enforcement Officer Dot Trauger, Asst. Secretary, Zoning & Sewage Bev Riker and area residents. Chairman Altemose, II called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.

The following minutes were presented: September 15, 2005 regular monthly meeting and September 28, 2005 work session. Chairman Altemose, II stated that Executive Sessions preceded the September 15,2005 regular meeting and followed the September 28, 2005 work session for legal and personnel reasons. Motion by Chairman Altemose, II to approve the minutes as written. Motion seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no comments. Motion passed unanimously.

Matters Arising: Chairman Altemose, II explained that the Spring Bulk Trash collected 84.09 tons and 2 tire containers. Monies collected were $4,152.00. Monies spent were $10,792.37. The Fall Bulk Trash collected 37.70 tons and 6.02 tons of tires. Monies collected were $2,251.00. Monies spent were $5,995.00

Tunk Fest: Collected donations & tee sales were $3,511.00 and $2,309.91 was spent.

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Donna Verdes presented the Treasurer’s report

General - Receipts $267,962.18

Disbursements $ 89,364.27

General Balance $761,377.21

Liquid Fuels - Liquid Fuels Balance $370,344.12

Motion by Supervisor Bourke to accept the treasurer’s report. Seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no comments, motion passed unanimously.

Bills in the amount of $286,000.81 were presented. Motion by Chairman Altemose, II to approve the bill list. Seconded by Supervisor Bourke. After comments and questions, motion passed unanimously.

Reports: Chairman Altemose, II stated the EAC minutes were posted the Joint Open Space meeting was cancelled. The COG minutes were posted. The EMA had no meeting.

Supervisor Sterrett stated that the EMS and Clymer Library minutes were not available.

Regional Comprehensive Use Plan - Supervisor Bourke stated there will be a meeting on October 17 at 6 p.m. Joint Building Codes will meet on October 13 at 3:30 p.m. Pocono Mountain Regional Police Board will meet on October 12 at 7p.m. Supervisor Bourke stated that our Township was running high with the number of incidents

Monroe County Task force minutes - Chairman Altemose, II the minutes were posted.

Township Planning Commission - Dot Trauger stated the Planning Commission had no meeting.

Public Comments:

Mike Gillen – Commented on the graffiti on the pipe line, the burned house and open space.

Peggy Yencho – passed

Marge Nowinski – Commented on the road crew salaries and open space that Route 115 should be commercial. Chairman Altemose, II explained that the owners had requested the change from commercial/industrial to residential.

Marie Rivera – passed

Richard VanNoy – Commented on the school board still not sure what to do with the 1.5 mil. Suggested that the supervisors write a letter to them in regard to returning the money to the townships.

Marie Rivera - Can zoning be easily changed on Route 115 and open space.

Maureen Sterner – Commented on the missing Kuhenbeaker sign between Kuhenbeaker and Long Pond Roads.

Dennis Shadler – from Warkes Acres wanted info on bringing roads up to township specs. He was informed that the township could give him the specs and that the development would need to agree to turn them over to the township for dedication.

Gary Verdes – Will PennDot be addressing the drainage that was just paved on Long Pond Road.

There being no further public comments, Supervisor Sterrett made motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Supervisor Bourke. Motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:27 p.m.
