MINUTES OF THE TUNKHANNOCK TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING HELD MAY 21, 2007
The Tunkhannock Township Board of Supervisors held their Regular Meeting on May 21, 2007. Those in attendance were Supervisors' Jim Sterrett, Francis A. Altemose, II, Secretary/Treasurer Donna Verdes, Solicitor Ed Scacchitti, Zoning Enforcement Officer Kate Lambert, Road Master Bruce Walder, and area residents. Chairman Richard G. Van Noy was absent. Vice-Chairman Sterrett called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

Motion was made by Supervisor Altemose, II to accept the minutes and seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no further comments the motion passed unanimously.

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Donna Verdes presented the Treasurer’s report
General Fund: Receipts $272,746.72
Disbursements $112,623.31
General Fund Balance: $387,123.36
Liquid Fuels Balance: $324,349.38
Motion by Supervisor Altemose, II to approve the Treasurer’s report. Seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no comments the motion passed unanimously.
Bill List: Bills in the amount of $63,672.36 were presented. Motion by Supervisor Altemose, II to approve the bill list. Seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no comments the motion passes unanimously.
Announcements:
- 911 Readdressing Project has begun… there may be volunteers knocking on doors
- Closed Monday May 28, 2007 Memorial Day
- Tunk Fest June 30, 2007 Sponsored by Time Reality 12 – 5 pm
- Pocono Mountain Book Fair August 11, 2007 –free event open to the public. Book, art, & food vendors needed see flyers in lobby for reserving a vendor spot.
- Congratulations to Maureen Sterner on her win for the primary election.
Vice-Chairman Sterrett read the meeting schedule.
Old Business:
- Proposed Ordinance Regulating Parking During Spectator Events. Motion by Supervisor Altemose, II to adopt Ordinance # 2007- 102 regulating parking on public roadways within the Township during spectator events at Pocono International Raceway and Prescribing Penalties for violation. Seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no comments or questions the motion passed unanimously.
- Proposed Public Hearing Advertising Amendments to Zoning Ordinance #2005-103. A motion by Supervisor Altemose, II to advertise the scheduling of a public hearing amending Zoning Ordinance # 2005-103 amending:
Article VIII Administration, 807. Permits E. and Article VII, Signs, 701. General Requirements. D. on July 9, 2007 at 6:30 pm prior to the Board of Supervisors’ regular meeting.
New Business:
- Proposed Expenditure for Tunk Fest request to provide for advertising. A motion by Supervisor Sterrett to approve an expenditure not to exceed $500 for advertising of Tunk Fest. Seconded by Supervisor Altemose, II. There being no comments or questions the motion passed unanimously.
- Proposed Primary ALS & BLS Designation for PMREMS. A motion by Supervisor Altemose, II to approve the letter to Gary Hoffman at the Monroe County Control Center as official notification that the Tunkhannock Township Board of Supervisors have decided to designate the primary Emergency Advanced (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) provider (s) for Tunkhannock Township. This designation is limited to the “first due” or “primary providers”. This designation is specifically identified on the dispatch maps provided by the Control Center and signed-off (agreed to) by all parties involved. Seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no other comments or questions the motion passed unanimously.
- Proposed Request from Countryside Pools of the Pocono Mountain Men’s Softball League. A motion by Supervisor Altemose, II granting permission for Pocono Mountain Men’s Softball League to use the back softball field previously used by the Swiftwater Inn softball team to be now used by the countryside pools softball team. Seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no other comments or questions the motion passed unanimously.
- Proposed Payment to Penn Star Bank about Excess Funds from Refinancing of Fire Co. Loan. A Motion by Supervisor Altemose, II to approve the appropriate persons to issue a check made payable to PennStar Bank for $17,649.39 to pay additional principal on the Refinancing of the Fire Co. Mortgage. Seconded by Supervisor Sterrett. There being no other comments or questions the motion passed unanimously.
