MINUTES OF THE TUNKHANNOCK TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’
SPECIAL MEETING HELD JANUARY 3, 2008
The Tunkhannock Township Board of Supervisors held a Special Meeting on January 3, 2008. Those in attendance were Supervisors Richard G. Van Noy, Francis Altemose, II, Jim Sterrett Assistant Secretary Maria Wieand and area residents.
The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Special Meeting for the Union Agreement between Tunkhannock Township, and the Tunkhannock Township Department of Public Works.
On Friday, October 19th, the Public Works Road Maintenance employees voted unanimously for representation by Teamsters Local 773. During the month of November and December the Board Representative, Union Steward and Local Union 773 representatives met to discuss and negotiate a contract for the interest of both parties involved. After our December 10, 2007 Regular Meeting where the Boards vote rejected the contract agreement all parties returned to negotiations and have met a negotiable agreement.
Chairman Van Noy explained that during the most recent meeting and negotiations between the DPW Local Union 773 and Supervisors with the assistance of Solicitor Scacchitti have managed to address all points and concerns the Board of Supervisors had.

Excess Time
Holiday Pay
Chairman Van Noy read a letter from newly appointed Supervisor Sterner explaining her concern with participating in the review of the contract and decided it would be best if she didn’t.
A motion by Supervisor Altemose, II, to accept Resolution 2008-118 the contract for the Tunkhannock Township Department of Public Works, who are members of the Local Union 773 for a three year agreement as stated in the contract. A roll call vote was taken: Chairman Van Noy-Yes, Supervisor Sterrett-Yes, Supervisor Altemose, II-Yes. The motion passed unanimously.
Comments & Questions:
Maureen Sterner- Expressed the Sunshine Law allows the public to comment before a vote is taken and feels we should have had that opportunity.
Peg Yencho- Passed
Louis Convoy- We as taxpayers will burden this and why can’t we be apprised of the information prior to the vote.
Joe Weider- Local 773 Representative, explained procedures for negotiations and how it is done.
Jim Davenport: Asked the current DPW salaries.
Francis Altemose, II- Thanked the DPW workers and commended them for the job performances and capabilities.
A motion to adjourn was made by Supervisor Altemose, II and seconded by Supervisor Sterrett, there being no comments or questions the motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
